Directing Impact: Filmmaker Tan Pei Lin shares about impact storytelling, documenting Young Onset Alzheimer's and Singapore's dementia care services

Pei Lin is a documentary filmmaker from Singapore who believes in the transformative power of storytelling to spark change, creating ripples that resonate across time. Her work has taken her from documenting a sprawling petroleum megastructure in Malaysia to the intimate home of a second-generation refugee in Hong Kong. Previously, as a producer at Our Better World—a non-profit digital storytelling platform—she championed impactful stories addressing issues such as mental health, gender equality, and education. Lady! marks her debut as a feature documentary director.

In this episode, we explore the journey of creating the impactful documentary 'Lady,' which delves into the lives a family experiencing Young Onset Alzheimer's. Learn about the challenges of filming during the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of connecting genuinely with subjects, and the innovative use of animation to convey complex emotions.
